Black Fungal Infection - Mucormycosis

Black fungus or Mucormycosis is creating lot of fear now a days. It is a rare condition, which is seen in people with reduced immunity. Since steroids are being used in the treatment of Covid, it reduces the immunity of the person. Diabetic patients recently recovered from Covid are more prone for this fungal infection.

The symptoms include

Sinus headache, Facial pain, Stuffy nose, blood discharge from the nose, blurring or double vision, teeth pain or loosening of the teeth, swelling of the face, skin discoloration in the facial region, restricted eye movements, brownish discharge from the nose.

It progresses very fast and can be life threatening. Early detection and treatment can help in reducing the damage and save life.
